Known as the creator of the unique, wide-eyed characters named after her, Bolli Blas is an artist that uses her art to share a vision of a utopia that’s free of prejudice, negativity, and violence.
Although her art has been exhibited in prominent art cities, Bolli aims to take her colorful and meaningful pieces to new areas for a wider audience to enjoy.
Venturing to New Horizons
Having already showcased her Bollis in several countries, Bolli is expecting to grace the art scene in New York, Nice, Milan, and many others for the next year. But Bolli has hopes to broaden her goals and open new opportunities for others by exhibiting her art in new places such as smaller towns so more people can see her art and understand its message.
“I would love to bring more art to people who don’t get a chance to create, we are all very lucky to have access to all the materials in the western world. I remotely support some orphanages and I’m hoping I can visit them to connect with children soon,” she said. “I also believe in inspiring others to create. Art is amazing for mental wellbeing and it doesn’t require any prior knowledge or degree – the best pieces come straight from the heart and there are no rules in art,” she said. “I would love to bring more art to people who don’t get a chance to create, we are all very lucky to have access to all the materials in the western world. Meeting new people has been one of the pivotal points in Bolli’s life that led her to become the creator of characters whose bright eyes look back at the viewers, serving as a mirror to modern society.
So aside from opening up new opportunities for others, Bolli will also be giving herself the chance to learn from the people she meets.
How Backpacking Changed Her Life
When asked about how she started her career and what caused her perception of life to change, Bolli would always recall her experience through some of the poorest countries in Central America, Africa, and Asia.
“That’s when I met a lot of amazing people from different backgrounds, [who were] so welcoming and happy to share the little they had. They allowed me to see the world from a different perspective,” she said.
She later used these experiences as a source of inspiration for her paintings that feature these bright-eyed characters who each have their story to tell.
