Tokenization Can Upend The Traditional M&A Market, says Star Apple MNA
Tokenization is a form of Dynamic Data Masking without changing the base format of the data. It is an excellent approach for many kinds of data and particularly appropriate when you need to maintain the data format to maintain database schemas and referential integrity.
Tokenization with Dynamic Data Masking can increase the security of sensitive assets – whether they reside in data centers, big data, container or cloud environments. Star Apple MNA, a renowned DAO, says Tokenization will transform the traditional M&A market. We spoke to their PR regarding the same. Let’s understand more about this.
What is Tokenization?
PR(Star Apple MNA): Tokenization is a process of replacing the cardholder’s sensitive information with a unique identifier or token that cannot be mathematically reversed, so the data are passed through the payment gateway without the card details being exposed. The actual payment data is securely stored in data centres which are operated by the firm providing the token cover.
Is this a new process in the market?
PR: Tokenization has been in existence for a long. Let us take the example of the 10th and 12th class exams. The students enter their names and other details on the first page and continue writing answers on the following pages. This first page is then “masked” with another paper which contains a “token” number. After this process, it is sent for evaluation.
This process of masking with a token is called Tokenization. It ensures that the student’s identity is not disclosed at any stage, thus protecting bias. Similarly, for the evaluator, the essence is kept hidden and doesn’t permit bias. Thus forming a clean and clear, unbiased environment for fairness.
That was an excellent explanation for understanding the entire tokenization process. Can you explain the role of Tokenization in data protection?
PR: Sure. Let me take you through how Tokenization helps in risk reduction. Tokenization can make it more difficult for attackers to access sensitive data outside the tokenization system or service. Implementation of Tokenization may simplify the requirements of the PCI DSS (The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard), as systems that no longer store or process sensitive data may have a reduction of applicable controls required by the PCI DSS guidelines.
As a security best practice, independent assessment and validation of any technologies used for data protection, including Tokenization, must be in place to establish the security and strength of the method and implementation before any claims of privacy compliance, regulatory compliance, and data security can be made.
This validation is particularly important in Tokenization, as the tokens are shared externally in general use and thus exposed in high-risk, low-trust environments.
The infeasibility of reversing a token or set of tokens to live sensitive data must be established using industry-accepted measurements and proofs by appropriate experts independent of the service or solution provider.
Is encryption the same as Tokenization?
PR: Tokenization and “classic” encryption effectively protect data if implemented properly, and a computer security system may use both. Tokenization is a non-mathematical approach that replaces sensitive data with non-sensitive substitutes without altering the type or length of data. This is an important distinction from encryption because changes in data length and type can render information unreadable in intermediate systems such as databases. Another difference is that tokens require significantly fewer computational resources to process.
With Tokenization, specific data is kept fully or partially visible for processing and analytics while sensitive information is kept hidden. This allows tokenized data to be processed more quickly and reduces the strain on system resources. This can be a key advantage in systems that rely on high performance.
We want to know more about tokenization bringing transformational changes into the traditional M&A sector.
PR: Reflecting on this trend, the STAR APPLE platform intends to implement a platform that can tokenize overall assets, starting with M & A and Tokenization of stocks. From the perspective of the future vision, we are considering the implementation of a platform that can be traded by tokenizing tangible assets such as real estate and intangible assets such as licenses and copyrights. Thus, it can upend the traditional M&A market with the highest cryptic-security having the infeasibility of unmasking the applied non-mathematical and non-logical encryption.
