Nick Taylor, a golfer, wins the Canadian Open

Although Nick Taylor has already won twice on the PGA Tour, this year’s victory was truly historic. The largest PGA event in Canada, the RBC Canadian Open, was won by Taylor, the first Canadian to do so since 1954.

On the fourth playoff hole, Taylor defeated Tommy Fleetwood with style, making a 72-foot eagle putt to win. His celebratory club-throwing will serve as the official tournament logo for the following year because it was such a significant occasion for Canadian golf.

After that, Canada defeated Team USA 127-118 to secure a podium position. With Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Dillon Brooks, and Lu Dort at the forefront, the team was loaded.

Denver wins Jamal Murray’s first NBA championship

An NBA Championship team features a Canadian player for the second year running. In five games, Jamal Murray and the Denver Nuggets defeated the Miami Heat to become the 2023 NBA Champions. After Murray missed the previous season due to an ACL injury sustained in April 2021, his lifelong dream has finally come true. At this point, Murray stands as the ninth Canadian NBA champion.
