Telangana Formation Day is celebrated on the formation of Telangana State every year on June 2 since 2014. Telangana is the 29th and the youngest state in India. It was officially formed on June 2, 2014. This year, the state will turn six years old.
The state praises the event with formal events across the districts. Celebrations are held in all the 30 districts of the state. The formal event of national flag hoisting by the Chief Minister of Telangana and the formal parade is held at the parade grounds.
Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) was elected as the first chief minister of Telangana, following elections in which the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) party made sure about a majority.
Every year, the Telangana Formation Day is celebrated in the state on June 2. The day marks importance in the state’s history for the supported Telangana Movement as the years progressed.
The battle of Telangana to become a new state started in the mid-1950s. As indicated by history, from 1724-1948 around the Nizams used the word Telangana, so they can separate between the Marathi speaking kingdoms of their region. This region was managed by the Satvahanas around 230 BC to 220 AD which is situated between Krishna and Godavari rivers.
The UPA government in 2013 which was headed by the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had freed the formation from Telangana. He had closed the procedure by-passing the statehood bill in both the houses of Parliament in February 2014.
In the General Elections held in Telangana in April 2014, the TRS, which led the campaign for a separate state for over a decade, rose successfully by winning 63 of the 119 seats and formed the government in the state.
Since the time the state of Telangana was formed, grand celebrations were held over the state by the ruling TRS party to mark the special day. Special cultural programs including different dance forms from everywhere throughout the nations, cultural events mirroring the culture and customs of the state are organized each year. The day connotes Telangana’s history for the sustained Telangana Movement as the years progressed.
Telangana was isolated after social strains emerged because of the influx of individuals from the Coastal Andhra region. Huge protests were held with the hunger strike of a student from the Khammam district for the implementation of safeguards guaranteed during the production of Andhra Pradesh. The movement gradually showed a demand for a separate Telangana. The official language of Telangana is Telugu.
