Tampere will host the multi-sport event European Masters Games from June 26 to July 9, 2023
The European Masters Games will take place in Tampere from June 26 to July 9, 2023. The competition will welcome approximately 4,000 athletes and their teams from 77 countries. With everything taken into account, the event will draw in almost 10,000 visitors to the city.
From June 26 to July 9, 2023, the European Masters Games will take place in Tampere, Finland. The multi-sport event includes men’s and women’s handball competitions. From June 29 to July 2, Tampere Exhibition & Sports Center will host the handball competition.
An international competition for adult athletes is the European Masters Games. The European event will be held for the fifth time, and 29 sports are included in the schedule. There are 14 different venues around Tampere where sports competitions can be watched. The competitors’ average age is 52 years old. The public can attend any European Masters Games events.
The event offers hobbyist and professional participants the chance to win.
In June and July, Tampere will host a large number of visitors from around the world for two weeks. According to Perttu Pesä, Director of Major Events in the City of Tampere, Tampere once more provides a one-of-a-kind setting for an international sporting event.
The Summer Terrace Restaurants area of Central Square, which serves as the event’s official games square, will serve as the competition’s living room. On Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at 6:00 p.m., the opening ceremony will take place in Central Square. The athletes will then lead an impressive parade toward the Tampere stadium. The event will be officially opened by world record-breaker in pole vault Sergey Bubka, President of the International Masters Games, at 7 p.m. In Ratina, the stage will be taken by the cappella ensemble Rajaton, the dance group Lunddance, and the gymnast team Akkron Taika. The public will also be able to attend the opening ceremony at no cost.
The International Masters Games Association owns the authority to organize the European Masters Games. The City of Tampere, which serves as the competition’s host city, has been granted the authority to organize the 2023 event.
When Finland hosts the European Masters Games for the first time in 2023, Tampere will become the center of international sports. The fifth EMG will occur 26 June – 9 July 2023 with competitors going after aces titles in 29 disciplines. EMG2023 offers competitors an opportunity to contend either at the professional or amateur level.
The European Masters Games give mature athletes a chance to compete in their favorite sports, bond with others who share their passion, and see new places. A true sports festival that praises friendship, passion and inspiration between sports people. The best part is that each and every sports venue is close to the city center!
The first edition of this event took place in Malmo in 2008, and since then, its popularity has steadily increased as an increasing number of adults incorporate sports into their daily lives to focus on a healthy lifestyle and enjoy life. Over 7,500 athletes from all over the world participated in the previous edition, which was held in Torino, Italy.
