The 26th IHF Women’s World Championship, which will be hosted by Denmark, Norway, and Sweden for the first time, will take place in six venues—two in each nation—between November 29 and December 17, 2023, with Herning, Denmark, hosting the final weekend.
The Women’s World Championships match schedule has been made public by the IHF. From November 29 to December 17, 2023, Denmark, Norway, and Sweden will host the competition. The 26th edition of the tournament features 32 teams in total, 19 of which have already obtained tickets.
Eight groups of four teams each will compete in the preliminary round at five different locations: two in Denmark, one in Sweden, and one in Norway. There will be four matches every day between the preliminary round which end on December 6 and the opening match on November 29. The teams will play eight matches a day on all other match days.
Groups E and F are expected to be played in Denmark, in Frederikshavn and Herning, while Groups A and B are expected to be hosted by Sweden, in the Scandinavium in Gothenburg and the Helsingborg Arena. And last, there will be games in Stavanger, Norway, between Groups G and H.
The preliminary round will end on December 5 with matches in Group A in Gothenburg and Group E in Herning. The competition will begin on November 29 with two matches in Group G and two matches in Group C in Frederikshavn.

The competition phase ends on December 11 and Frederikshavn is scheduled to host the President’s Cup from December 6 to December 13.
The quarterfinals will now take place on two different days; the first two will take place in Trondheim on December 12 and the second two will take place in Herning on December 13.
On Friday, December 15, the placement matches and the semi-finals will take place; on Sunday, December 17, the final, the bronze medal match, and the placement matches 5/6 and 7/8 are scheduled.
The final weekend in Herning, where the 2015 IHF Women’s World Championship final between Norway and the Netherlands ended in a 31:23 victory, will take place at the Jyske Bank Boxen.
The official website of Denmark/Norway/Sweden 2023 has also been made public, with precisely nine months until the competition begins. You can view it at www.aimtoexcite.com, where you can also purchase tickets for all of the competition’s matches, including the final weekend in Herning.
