The first-ever financial initiative, worth $83.2 million, has been unveiled by the Research Development and Innovation Authority (RDIA) to support research laboratories across Saudi Arabia.
In line with the national research priorities declared by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman—who also holds the position of chairman of the Supreme Committee for Research, Development, and Innovation—this project seeks to improve research facilities and laboratories throughout the Kingdom.
A nationwide open-access portal that offers expedited access to the Kingdom’s funded research infrastructure was unveiled during the event.
The portal’s objectives are to promote open collaboration, empower creators and innovators, and make it easier for people to access research facilities.
This funding will go to thirty organizations, which include hospitals, universities, labs, and private companies that work in different fields of science.
With 41% of the recipients concentrating on human health, 27% on environmental sustainability and basic needs, 19% on energy and industry leadership, and 13% on future economics, the recipients come from a wide range of fields.
