Regions Tradition 2023: Greystone Golf & Country Club Set to Host The Tradition for an Exciting Week May 10-14

The Tradition, which is currently referred to as the Regions Tradition, is one of the 5 senior golf majors and the first event on the PGA Tour Champions calendar each year. It pits many of the greatest legends in golf to go head-to-head. Shelby County’s Regions Tradition returns on May 10-14 at Greystone Golf & Country Club, bringing together some of the world’s biggest sports personalities.

The Tradition, currently known as the Regions Tradition, was established in 1989 and was held in Arizona until relocating to Oregon in 2003. It has been held in Alabama since 2011.

Steve Stricker is the reigning champion. In 2022, he won this competition by a stunning 6-stroke margin for the second time, following his victory in 2019.

The event will start Wednesday, May 10 with the renowned celebrity pro-am, while the competition will follow between Thursday and Sunday, with the PGA Tour Champions’ first major champion of the season being delegated Sunday afternoon.

Each of the festivities will begin with the 2023 pro-am, which will include a few big-name celebrities being matched with the greats of the game.

Some of those names incorporate NBA legend Charles Barkley, college football coaches, for example, new Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze, Georgia head coach Kirby Smart, new UAB coach Trent Dilfer, as well as other big in-state names like Nate Oats and Bo Jackson.

The rest of the week, gates will open at 8 a.m. with tee times beginning at 9 a.m. Live TV coverage will occur Thursday and Friday on the Golf Channel from early afternoon to 3 p.m., while the weekend rounds will be broadcast from 2-4 pm.

Ground access will be free for all retired and active military personnel with their military ID, and anyone under the age of 18 is free with a ticketed adult. Tickets for the Margarita Grill Club cost $400 per person, while general admission tickets cost $25 per person.
