Los Angeles County is the US county with the most Mexican restaurants, according to a study
There are more than 5,000 Mexican restaurants in Los Angeles County alone, which accounts for 30% of all Mexican restaurants in California!
Undoubtedly, hundreds of American restaurants—particularly those in California—have been influenced by Mexican culture.
There is at least one Mexican restaurant in 85% of counties, according to a recent Pew Research Center study, and one in 10 restaurants in the U.S. serve Mexican food.
That is, however, particularly prevalent in Texas and California.
About 40% of all Mexican restaurants in the country are located in these two states, which are home to the majority of Mexican Americans (22% in California and 17% in Texas). With over 5,000 restaurants, 30% of Mexican restaurants in California are located in Los Angeles County alone!
The study, according to researchers, is a reflection of the expanding Mexican American community, which currently makes up 11% of all Americans.
