The top kabaddi players from men’s and women’s teams from the five World Kabaddi member continents—Africa, Asia, Oceania, Pan America, and Europe—will compete in the Kabaddi World Cup (KWC) – West Midlands 2025 in March 2025. Teams from India, China, Iran, and Pakistan as well as home teams from England and Scotland will compete in the World Cup, the first time the competition has been hosted outside of Asia.
The second edition of the Kabaddi World Cup to be organized under World Kabaddi’s authority is the 2025 Kabaddi World Cup. It will take place from March 17–23, 2025, in the West Midlands of England. The tournament will feature both women’s and men’s competitions.
The leading Kabaddi competition, the World Cup Kabaddi 2025, will be held in the United Kingdom for the second time after the 2019 tournament in Melaka, Malaysia. We look at the schedule for the competition below. The event will begin on March 17 and go through March 23, 2025.
The event is sponsored by the WMCA Commonwealth Games Major Events Legacy Fund and is organized by World Kabaddi and the British Kabaddi League (BKL) on behalf of the England Kabaddi Association. The event is primarily hosted by the City of Wolverhampton Council, with support from the councils of Birmingham, Coventry, and Walsall.
Birmingham, Coventry, Walsall, and Wolverhampton will host more than 60 matches throughout the course of the seven-day competition. With over 250 million spectators across Europe and easy access for more than half of the UK population within a two-hour travel time, this strategic location offers exceptional connectivity.

Kabaddi is the sport with the highest rate of growth in South Asia, and past results from comparable competitions indicate that there is a sizable potential audience for the sport on a global level.
According to Pro Kabaddi League statistics, this event drew one billion viewers in just the 2014 and 2019 seasons. Furthermore, 1.2 billion social media impressions were recorded throughout the 2019 PKL season, demonstrating the strength of the already-established Kabaddi fan base around the world. This should be a partial focus for collaborations aiming at promoting the event.
Teams from five continents will travel to the UK to battle for the coveted crown in what is expected to be the biggest international Kabaddi tournament Kabaddi World Cup ever. The defending champions, India, are once again among the favorites to win the women’s and men’s titles.
Birmingham, Coventry, Walsall, and Wolverhampton are the four cities where more than 60 matches will be contested over seven days. The league-cum-knockout format of the tournament Kabaddi World Cup will see teams placed in groups, with the top two clubs from each group moving on to the competition’s knockout stages. Following the Kabaddi World Cup, the following individuals will receive individual awards:
The top players in each category will also be recognized by the selection of the Team of the Tournament, and the team that best demonstrates sportsmanship during the competition Kabaddi World Cup will receive a Fairplay award.
