The new iPhone 16 series will be unveiled by Apple at the beginning of September; you can find the exact date and time here. In the interim, everything we expect from the most powerful iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max models is listed here.
The most recent report suggests that the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max will get new colors. This is interesting because colors for the Pro have typically stayed the same or pretty close to each other over several generations.
Respected leaker Sonny Dickson has released new images of dummy units. According to MacRumors, there will be four colors altogether, just like there were for the iPhone 15 Pro. However, there will be a brand-new color that looks more like bronze.
The brushed titanium edges that are color-matched to the phone’s rear glass will continue to be available in other colors. With a natural titanium option and one that appears whiter than the current range, the current range is likely to remain muted this year. It will be interesting to see how Apple names the black phone because it appears to be much darker than it currently is. Obsidian? Darkness? Oblivion? Maybe not.
However, the bronze shade will be added to the range to fill the gap left by the current Blue Titanium finish. If Dickson’s dummies are accurate, the dummy units show something that looks almost brown. This would be a new color for Apple to use, and it will probably stand out a little more. It has been said that the other shades are so quiet that they are boring.
Rose gold was said to be the new color, according to rumors. After all, Apple liked this a long time ago because it likes gold in various shades of pink. However, it appears that bronze has prevailed. Displays are the next step.
The new Pro models will have cameras that are better and bigger screens. They will have a processor that is faster than the iPhone 16 standard. The eye-catching new Apple Intelligence software will work on all four phones.
The revamped hardware of the iPhone 16 series will serve as a platform for Apple’s new AI-powered features as well. All of this comes at a time when rival phone manufacturers like Samsung and Google have phones packed with AI and generative AI that make it super easy to write messages and remove people and things from photos.
This does not mean that AI and Apple Intelligence will be the sole focus of the iPhone 16 and 16 Pro. Expect improved cameras, new colors, and larger screens.
While the regular iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will look and have the same screen size as the models that were released in 2023, the Pro models will likely look and perform differently. The iPhone’s current 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch screens will be replaced by the largest screens yet, 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch ones.
Of course, this means bigger phones, but not by much. The 16 Pro is maybe 3mm taller and 1mm wider than the phone from last year, and it weighs about 7 grams more. The new Pro Max will be about 3 millimeters taller, less than 1 millimeter wide, and only 4 grams heavier than the current model. It is anticipated that the thickness of both phones will remain the same.
Wider bezels make up some of the extra screen real estate if these dimensions aren’t as big as you might have thought.
The telephoto found in the 15 Pro Max’s tetraprism will now be available in both sizes of the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max, enhancing the devices’ cameras. The ultra-wide pixel count could rise from 12 to 48 megapixels thanks to the implementation of new lens technology.
At least for some iPhone 16 models, there are a lot of rumors that the screens will be bigger. The most recent is from a Korean publication called Elec, which said in an April report that some iPhone 16 models are going to use an innovative screen technology that will make the bezels, or the frame around the screen, thinner. Some iPhone 16 models may see a slightly larger screen area as a result of this development, although the specific models are unknown.
In the past, Apple has introduced display enhancements to its pro line of products before sometimes introducing them to lower-priced models. According to the report, display manufacturers have introduced a novel border reduction structure technology, resulting in slimmer bezels and more compact control circuitry.
Ming-Chi Kuo, a well-known Apple analyst, has made color predictions for the iPhone 16 lineup. He stated in a May post on X that the iPhone 15 Pro’s blue color option would be discontinued and would be replaced by a new rose model for the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. Additionally, he predicted that the yellow-colored iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus would be replaced by white models.
Apple has maintained the two screen sizes for iPhone Pro models since 2020, when it introduced the 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pro and the 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max. These finishes include black, natural, pink, and white titanium. That could, however, change with the iPhone 16 Pro models, which may feature larger screens.
At the beginning of this year, display analyst Ross Young suggested that the screens of the iPhone 16 Pro models would be larger. He stated that the sizes of the screens would be 6.3 inches for the iPhone 16 Pro and 6.9 inches for the iPhone 16 Pro Max. Mark Gurman of Bloomberg later confirmed that rumor, stating that the iPhone 16 Pro models could expand by “a couple of tenths of an inch diagonally.”
The 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch sizes of the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are believed to remain unchanged. It would be yet another move by Apple to differentiate its Pro iPhone models from its regular iPhone models if the size increase is accurate.
Greater power efficiency is another change that could make its way into iPhone 16 displays. According to a TheElec report, Samsung Display is apparently working on a new material set called M14 specifically for Apple. This technology is expected to be used in iPhones that will be released next year. According to the report, M14 will use blue phosphorescence technology instead of blue fluorescent technology, which will result in a screen that is even more power efficient than the current LTPO screens found on Pro models.
This year, artificial intelligence (AI) may have been the most talked-about technology buzzword, and Apple followed in Samsung’s and Google’s footsteps by touting the brand-new AI features of their flagship phones. Apple Intelligence debuted in June at the Worldwide Developers Conference of the company.
It includes ChatGPT integration, tools for changing the tone of the text and proofreading it, new Siri features for getting tech support and responding to more personalized requests, and the ability to generate images and emojis. With iOS 18 right out of the box, these brand-new AI features are expected to come preinstalled on all iPhone 16 models.
It is anticipated that the brand-new iPhone Pro models will feature a new button that can be used to record video and take pictures. “It will operate like a button on a DSLR camera, allowing you to press in slightly to trigger autofocus. A harder press will take the picture. You can also swipe along the button to zoom in and out while shooting photos and videos,” according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in his latest Power On newsletter. The Capture Button, according to some analysts, will also be available on regular iPhones.
In 2023, the processors of the iPhone 15 and 15 Pro were different. All four iPhones will likely feature the brand-new A18 processor this year. Additionally, each of the four models will now have 8 gigabytes of memory. According to Gurman, that is the minimum requirement to run Apple Intelligence.
Please note that this does not imply that the processors in the four phones will be identical. It’s not out of the question that the Pro models will have additional capabilities or graphics capabilities.
For the first time, faster Wi-Fi, known as Wi-Fi 7, is likely to be found on the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.
There are rumors about a new battery design that either means the iPhones will have a longer battery life or will stay the same and be able to handle all the additional demands that new features and Apple Intelligence may place on them. The iPhone 16 Pro is most likely to benefit from larger batteries. Additionally, it will likely have improved thermal capacity to extend battery life.
The upcoming iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max may both feature 5x telephoto lenses. Ming-Chi Kuo, an Apple analyst, says that the Pro Max model will get a tetraprism lens next year, not just the Pro model. Apple gave the iPhone 15 Pro a 12-megapixel camera with a 3-x optical zoom, and the iPhone 15 Pro Max has a 12-megapixel camera with a 5-x optical zoom, which is the same as a 120-mm full-frame camera lens.
It could represent a design breakthrough if this rumor is true. Apple cited the larger body of the phone as the reason why the 15 Pro Max had a 5x telephoto lens, whereas the Pro did not when it was introduced.
MacRumors recently discovered a leak that suggests Apple might be looking into a novel strategy for improving photo quality. The rumor suggests that the manufacturing procedure for cameras might incorporate anti-reflective technology. If it works, this could get rid of unwanted artifacts like lens flare, which would make the photos look more real.
In contrast to the previous two years, all four iPhone 16 models will reportedly feature A18 branding and a next-generation Apple chipset. According to a MacRumors report that cited executive analyst Jeff Pu of Haitong International Securities, each of the four models will feature a chip from the A18 series, with the Pro iPhone model receiving an A18 Bionic Pro and base models receiving a regular A18.
The A16 Bionic, which first appeared on the 2022 iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max, powers the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus, while the A17 Pro processor powers the 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max. Pu says the A18 chip will be made with TSMC’s cutting-edge 3-nanometer process.
The next Apple keynote will probably take place on or around Tuesday, September 10 at 10 a.m. Pacific. However, this could happen earlier or later. In any case, pre-orders for the new iPhones will undoubtedly begin on September 13 and go on sale on Friday, September 20.
Since Apple holds its annual iPhone event almost every year in September, we anticipate that the release date for the iPhone 16 will remain the same. This year’s iPhone event has not been scheduled by the Cupertino firm. The event has traditionally been held on a Tuesday in the second week of September, depending on when Labor Day falls. This year, the iPhone 16 event will take place on September 10 ( On September 7, the event for the iPhone 15 took place.)
Only twice has Apple held the event on a Wednesday; the most recent was on September 7 for the iPhone 14 announcement.
The release of new iPhones typically occurs on the Friday of the following week, shortly after the event. The iPhone 16 would then be available for purchase on Friday, September 20. The iPhone 13 and preorders began on September 17 and went on sale on September 24)
Again, everything could change, and we won’t know for sure until Apple sends out official invitations to the event. Apple will sometimes release certain models at different times, especially when it introduces a new design or size. Therefore, the iPhone 16 lineup may be released on multiple dates.
Most likely not. Almost every major phone manufacturer, including Google, Oppo, OnePlus, and Samsung, has introduced several generations of bendable handsets; however, Apple has been unusually silent regarding the possibility of a foldable iPhone. According to a report published on Tuesday by The Information, the most recent rumors suggest that Apple is working on a “clamshell” design for the iPhone. This design could be ready as early as 2026.
According to the report, Apple’s plans to release newly improved camera technologies, such as a variable aperture, will coincide with the new design. It is unclear what has prevented Apple from introducing a folding iPhone in recent years. According to reports, the company has been developing folding iPhone designs since at least 2019.
