Sales of BEVs for the BMW brand increased by +34.1% in the first half of 2024 compared to the same period the previous year, with 179,557 completely electric vehicles delivered. In the first half of the year, 1,096,486 BMW vehicles were sold, representing a growth of +2.3% over the same period the previous year. Because of this, the brand did better in Europe than its traditional competitors and was able to increase its market share. 1,213,359 vehicles under the Rolls-Royce, MINI, and BMW brands were supplied by the BMW Group overall in the first half of the year.
“In the first six months of the year, we saw double-digit growth of our fully-electric vehicles and models from the upper premium segment,” said Jochen Goller, member of the Board of Management of BMW AG responsible for Customer, Brands, and Sales. “Despite a challenging market environment, we increased sales for the BMW brand in the first half of the year, thanks to our attractive product portfolio. The strong commitment of our BMW Group employees and our robust global retail network has made a significant contribution in this regard,” said Jochen Goller.
Customers are starting to favor fully electric models of the BMW brand in addition to those from the top premium sector. When comparing the first half of this year to the same period the previous year, sales of the BMW 7 Series increased by +22%. In comparison to the prior year, there was also notable growth observed in the BMW X1 and the BMW 3 Series. When it debuted the first M5* high-performance car with an electric drivetrain in June, BMW M GmbH also did well and attracted a lot of attention.
Sales of BMW M cars increased by +5.1% to a total of 99,517. In the first half of the year, the MINI brand delivered 114,054 vehicles as it continued to switch out all of its product models. This covers the New MINI Family’s initial MINI Cooper* vehicles, which were well-received by consumers. Positive impetus will be provided in the second half of the year by the further ramp-up of the MINI Cooper and MINI Countryman* as well as the market debut of the MINI Aceman. The introduction of the Rolls-Royce Cullinan Series II, the most popular Rolls-Royce vehicle in the company’s product lineup, was a high point for the Rolls-Royce brand.
The Rolls-Royce brand shipped 2,819 automobiles to clients around the globe in the first half of the year. Around the world, BMW Motorrad delivered 113,072 bikes and scooters to consumers in the same time frame.
The second half of 2024 is something that the BMW Group is confident about. All of the BMW 5 Series vehicles, including the first BMW i5 Touring* and the new BMW 5 Series Touring*, are fully available, and the New MINI Family is still being introduced to the market. Global client preferences are catered to by the BMW Group, which offers a wide range of drive train technology across its product line under the Rolls-Royce, MINI, and BMW brands, along with a high degree of flexibility.
