Authenticity Counts: World Traveler James Meeker
What makes you different from other people who are travelling the world?
A friend I’ve gotten to know through social media told me, “Though I’ve traveled a lot, seeing your posts made me realize that different flare you add to posting about traveling, and in a way that feels sincere and even candid.”
My posts aren’t trying to sell you anything. I just want to share the unique things I see along the way. I look for unique landscapes, beautiful architecture, funny things and amazing people to photograph. I’m not trying to impress anyone or get anything from people by posting about it. I just enjoy sharing whatever it is I’m experiencing. Hopefully, people feel like they’ve joined me along on the adventure.
What are you most proud of?
I’m proud of having followed through. Committing to a journey like this is tough at times. It’s lonely. You have to really take the initiative and manage everything on your own. But the experiences it has given me have enriched my life tenfold.
If you had to start this journey from scratch, what would you do differently?
There’s nothing I would change. Not everything has been smooth sailing, but I’ve really enjoyed the journey I’ve taken.
