The conclusion of the first two rounds of the 2025 women’s NCAA basketball tournament can only indicate that the Sweet 16 has arrived. All four of the top seeds—South Carolina, Texas, Southern California, and UCLA—have made it through the first weekend, although USC appears to be having problems.

As the most successful program in women’s basketball history with 11 national titles, it should come as no surprise that UConn is this year’s most dangerous No. 2 seed. Paige Bueckers tied a career-high 34 points in a dominant 91-57 victory over South Dakota State, sending Geno Auriemma’s team to its 31st consecutive Sweet 16. The Huskies have made it to 15 of the last 16 Final Fours, but they haven’t taken home a championship since 2016.

In the NCAA’s prestigious college tournament, the Sweet 16 round will take place from Friday, March 28, to Saturday, March 29. On Sunday, March 30, and Monday, March 31, there will be an opportunity to qualify for the Elite Eight.
