The 2019 Caribbean Premier League will kick-begin with defending champions Trinbago Knight Riders’ game against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in Trinidad on September 4. The final will occur on October 12 at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad.
Up until now, just the games in Barbados, Jamaica, St Lucia, St Kitts and Nevis and Trinidad and Tobago have been affirmed. The venue for Guyana Amazon Warriors’ home games is yet to be reported, as are the venues for the Eliminator and Qualifier 1, the two of which are scheduled for October 6.
A year ago, Warriors played all their home games at the Providence Stadium, Guyana, including Qualifier 1.
Prior staled to start on August 21, the dates for CPL were pushed forward to maintain a strategic distance from a conflict with India’s tour of the West Indies. That will guarantee accessibility of West Indies players for the CPL, which will extend crosswise over 34 games this year, as well as for the India series.
“We are delighted with how CPL continues to grow,” CPL CEO Damien O’Donohoe said. “Last season we saw more than 200 million viewers watch the tournament and CPL also made a huge impact on the economies of the countries we visited. We are certain that this year we will see those numbers grow once again.”
